Things I'm Going To Do After My Finals

E16

And today my dear friends is the day AMFIL actually started. Yupp, I'm done with my exams. I'm officially a graphic designer and now authorised to say sentences like: “In my opinion magenta doesn't quite harmonise with these kittens in the sunset and the rainbow.” or “I advise you not to make me distort letter or else I'll have to commit seppuku. Which would hurt.”  But more importantly: now I'll have time for all those things I've planned since last year...

Today I started with “spending quality time with my friends”AMFIL #08 –, but even that becomes hard, when you have so many great friends you've ignored for that long.... And all the other tasks – which are so numerous that I couldn't even draw all my plans by now, so prepare to see some more in the future. And frankly, I don't even know where to start. If I think about it, it seems like I'm gonna need at least a year (considering my working hours…) just to finish these. Maybe I'll need another project called “AAMFIL” (After AMFIL)…

Sometimes I feel that Miranda analogy is more accurate than I thought.

*not actually called Dan.

You know what they always say: “You are beautiful! You are special! You. Are. Perfect!”... And somehow the weirder you are, the more often you hear this. And of course you try to be a good girl and believe it, because that is how you should think these days... But the thing is, you can't actually force yourself to think that way. Because the brain doesn't work like that. You can write it on your mirror, you can murmur it constantly like a mantra, you can sing songs about it, but really... it doesn't work. Wanna know why? You're gonna hate me for that, but

Because it's not true.

Noone is perfect, let's deal with it. In my opinion the thing everyone should tell themselves sounds more like this:

You're not perfect.
And it's OK.

Well Miranda Hart is the least perfect person in the world – like ever! Just start watching the show, you will find you cannot possibly “out-unperfect” her. Besides it's a great fun to watch on a boring evening when all your friends are with their dates and you're done having serious conversations with your fruit friends or doing karaoke with your hoover boyfriend. Such fun! Such fun such fun such fun such fun such fun...

Being called Erika is one of my recurring problems, just as well as being called Elvira, Edina, Alice and Alexandra. You might think that Elizabeth is quite a common name, but not in Hungary. So people try to be clever and correct the name I just told them. Because no way, I am really called „Eliza”, pffffft, please, that's stupid.

Doing my work as a journalist I often have to call people, and if there's one thing I hate more than letter distortion, it's talking on the phone. Especially to complete strangers like the civil registrars of my town. And I wasn't exactly their favourite person for making them do so much extra work for just a tiny regular column in our newspaper... And of course they never got the name either. But that day! That day something happened, and the sky became bluer, and the sun shone better... They called me
Eliza...

Cos that's what good christian girls do at the age of 26. Not sitting on their just a tiny bit bigger than normal butts, surrounded by cats drinking a cup of chinese tea and reading about calligraphic impacts on the early 1950s letterforms.
